Solar Powered Vehicles for a Sustainable Future

Envision a vehicle which gets its energy from the sun, gets you to work, shopping, and play at up to 45 mph, and emits no pollutants or CO2. Ecotrike is such a vehicle. It is street-legal and being tested and used by the developer.

We are looking for investor-manufacturer for this vehicle.

Check out the pictures, specifications and performance detailed on this web site.

Why Solar Powered Vehicles

Scientists concerned with global warming have estimated that humans will need to decrease energy consumption by 80% by 2050 if we want to stop global warming and the melting of the glaciers and ice caps of north and south poles.  Vehicles which use fossil fuels, oil, gas or electricity generated by coal add to the increasing concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere which is the major cause of global warming.  Hence we need vehicles that minimize burning of fossil fuels.

Ecotrikes are such vehicles. Using one third of the size of a conventional car, 1/8 of the weight, and electric motors of up to 8 hp,  these vehicles can achieve speeds of up to 45 mph for a range of 50 miles on fully charged 5 kW-hr Lithium battery pack. Average energy consumption tested in city driving is 0.8 kW-hr per 10 miles. This is an EPA equivalent of 400 MPGe. This modest amount of energy is obtained from a combination of a 327 watt solar panel on the vehicle’s roof and an external charger. Such a charger can be powered by a modest 1500 watt home-based PV solar system with a battery storage system which would largely eliminate the need for electricity generated by fossil fuel.
